The Vertex Standard VX-231-G7B-5 UHF Portable Radio provides more scanning options than most portable radios by giving you 4. It also features Vertex's exclusive Auto-Range Transponding System (ARTS) which lets you know when other ARTS-equipped stations are within range of communication. If out of range for more than two minutes, the radio can sense that it's not receiving a signal and beep to alert you, so the base station can then, in turn, alert the field unit to get back within range.
